The Rebetiko Guitar Project
Renowned Greek musician Dimitris Mystakidis performs remakes of popular rebetika songs on guitar, that transcends language and speaks directly to the heart. Mystakidis will perform from his three personal albums, ‘16 Rebetika Guitar Songs’, ‘Esperanto’ and his most recent, ‘America’. Iphigenia Ioannou (vocals) joins him on stage.
REBETIKA in simple terms is the Greek blues. It is traditional music of the late 19th century where the basic instruments are the bouzouki, Greek baglama and tzouras.
Performance takes place at the Gialino Musical Theatre, a cabaret style venue in central Athens where tickets are pre-sold with drinks.
